Policies

Your Child’s Safety

Please remember that this is a cooperative playgroup, not a daycare center or preschool. The Director is there to facilitate the morning’s activities, not to instruct or supervise your children. You (or your caregiver) are responsible for the safety and well-being of your child while at the Co-op. While the playgroup space is set up to allow the adults to interact, you must also supervise your child’s play at all times. It is up to you to always know where your child is and to make sure that he/she is safe. This is true both indoors and in the outdoor play space. For everyone’s health and safety, smoking is not allowed anywhere on the Cathedral property.

Sick Child Policy

Children catch colds and other infections from one another easily. It is an inevitable and normal part of childhood. However, if your child has had a fever, vomiting or diarrhea in the last 24 hours, or has a contagious rash, they should not attend the playgroup. Children with persistent and deep coughs or a constantly runny nose should be kept at home as well.

Bad Weather Closing Policy

When Baltimore City schools are closed or opening late, the Co-op will be CLOSED. Please check your favorite TV or Internet news provider for updates (please do not call the Cathedral). If you miss a day due to a closing, you may make up the day later in the same session.

Snack and Personal Items Policy

Members are asked not to bring any food from home to the playgroup. Some of our children may have severe or life-threatening food allergies. Snacks served at the Co-op contain no nuts or nut products, dairy or eggs. Food and drinks at the playgroup are limited to snack times. This is the only way that we can be sure that all of the children remain safe. If you need to bring specific food for your child, just check with the Director first, Thank you! Also, it is easier on everyone if personal items and toys are left at home.

Make-up days policy

In the event that your child is absent, you may schedule a makeup day. Makeup days are only available during Children of the World’s regularly scheduled hours and must occur within the same session as the missed day. Each registered family may use up to 2 makeup days per session. Prior approval is required to confirm that space is available on the desired makeup day. To request a makeup day, please email cotwcoopbaltimore@gmail.com.

Walk-in policy

Registered Children of the World Co-op members may utilize “drop-in” sessions outside of their scheduled attendance days as a member benefit, for themselves and/or for a friend and accompanying child/ren. Drop-ins cost $13 per individual session, and if bringing a friend the member is responsible for making sure that the walk-in registration form is complete
